Sheila joined the Perioperative Department as the nurse educator in December 2017. She oversees the onboarding process for new nursing staff at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, Perioperative Department. She is also involved in student and faculty training and manages the continuing education activities and inservices. She worked as a perioperative staff at the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins Hospital from 2004 to 2009 and became the unit educator from 2009 until 2017. Sheila presented at national conferences and published work in American Society of Ophthalmic Registered Nurses (ASORN) journal regarding hand-off communication in the OR. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing at the University of Santo Tomas, Philippines in 1997. She completed her Master's Degree in Nursing Informatics at the University of Phoenix on May 2018.
